An exhibition of ceramic tableware pieces by Herefordshire maker, Stuart Houghton. Open Tuesday – Saturday, 9.30am-5pm.
I’m very much looking forward to my upcoming exhibition at Tinsmiths Homeware Shop in Ledbury, which opens on 22nd May and runs through to 13th June 2026.
The work is fresh from the kiln and includes a new selection of porcelain tableware in tenmoku and white glaze. There are store jars, vases, bowls and a range of functional pieces for the table and home. As always, my focus has been on clean lines, simple forms, and making pieces that are both beautiful and genuinely usable in everyday life.
I’ve had a long and very valued relationship with Tinsmiths, who have shown my work since 2008, and it’s a pleasure to be returning there with this new body of work.
I’m especially looking forward to Meet the Maker on Saturday 23rd May, 10.00–1.00, and to welcoming those of you who can make it along to see the work in person and have a chat.
I hope to see some of you there.

“‘Welcome to my new website. I hope it gives you an insight into the way I’ve worked since 1965 when I was inspired by some amazing teachers, through to my current passion for making guitars and furniture.’”
History
2020 sees my long awaited new website. I’d like to thank Fleen Doran for all the her hard work she’s put in creating this site, and a special thank you to Dan Barker for all the fabulous new pictures.
I hope you enjoy the site and feel it gives you a flavour of my work from my 1960’s schooldays through to the latest furniture and guitars finished in the early 2020’s.
Current Work
I am currently concentrating on handcrafted guitars and furniture.
Under guitar maker Richard Meyrick I’m producing 3 or 4 guitars a year in solid timbers, classical, acoustic and arch-top.
My furniture is made using mainly European and British Ash and Oak. I work in my own workshop in Ledbury and also with my teacher Stuart Giles at his workshop near Newent.
Studio potting is still in the blood and I’m often drawn to my potter’s wheel to throw the occasional pot using porcelain clay.
